Privacy policy

This site is run by Wesley Sing of Appetite Technology (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa (2023/849612/07). This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). What this site collects

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics, and it asks first. Until you accept, Google Consent Mode keeps analytics storage switched off: no analytics cookie is written and no identifier is kept. Decline and it stays that way, with every part of the site working exactly as it would otherwise.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets a cookie so that repeat visits are counted as one person rather than several, and IP addresses are anonymised. It is used to understand which sections are read, not to follow you elsewhere. Advertising and personalisation signals are switched off.

Changing your mind: use the Cookie settings link in the footer of the site at any time. Declining there switches analytics off and deletes the analytics cookies that were already set. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under analytics-consent, and clearing this site's data also resets it.

What this site does not do

No advertising, no profiling, and nothing sold or shared for marketing.
No analytics at all unless you accept, and no other tracking scripts in any case.
No database of enquiries. A contact form submission is sent as an email and lives in an inbox.
Nothing else is stored in your browser beyond the single record of your cookie choice.

Who else handles the information

Three service providers process data in order for this site to work:

Vercel hosts the site and keeps the server logs.
Resend delivers contact form submissions as email.
Anthropic provides the model behind Naya, so the messages you type in the chat are sent to it to generate a reply.
Google provides Analytics, and receives data only if you accept the cookie question.

Each of these is an established provider with its own privacy terms. Do not put anything confidential into the chat window.

Where the information goes

These providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside South Africa. POPIA permits this where the receiving party is subject to comparable protection, which these providers undertake in their terms.

How long it is kept

Enquiry emails are kept for as long as the conversation is useful, and in any case no longer than is needed for the purpose it was given for. Ask and it will be deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period by the host as part of normal operation.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

ask what personal information is held about you,
ask for it to be corrected or deleted,
object to it being processed,
and complain to the Regulator if you are not satisfied.

Complaints

If you believe your information has been mishandled, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions, so the current page is the whole policy.
